Elesaan

[Note: Elesaan is short for “elementalis insaan”. Elesaan is how they’re commonly referred to unless being spoken about in an academic context.]

Elesaan are insaan who were blessed by the elementalis and thus were able to wield the elements [earth, wind and fire.] They can not only summon their element outside of themselves but also transform into the element [however if they transform fully for too long it’ll take time for them to recover back to their normal form. They shrink if they’re using wind and fire and if they’re earth users it’ll take time for their body to return to normal [going from rock, plant or gem to normal skin again.]]

Elesaan live in harmony with the elementalis. They are able to communicate with one another and live with each other for the most part.

Whenever the Fire Elesaan need guidance they ask the fire elementalis for advice and it would offer and the Fire Elesaan would hold the advice close to their hearts. While the Fire Elesaan respect the words of the fire elementalis, they will always be true to their own thoughts, feelings and ideals first and foremost. The fire elementalis was the one who helped instill this strength into them.

When it comes to the Wind Elesaan they’re very free spirited group of people. Some are solitary, some live in communities and those communities are nomadic. They go where the wind takes them. This can be literal or not. More traditional Wind Elesaan truly follow the wind as guidance whereas less traditional ones will simply go where they please. Wind Elesaan communities tend to be small but many as a result.

The Earth Elesaan are the biggest community of the three Elesaan’s and the.most diverse, having not just those with rock abilities but plant or gems as well. They in fact have a kingdom with the earth elementalis in the center of their kingdom. This kingdom has the earth and plants woven through so that they do not disrupt nature too much. They live in harmony with the earth and all that encompasses it. However in order to live in harmony, there are rules that every citizen of Dhul must follow. Anyone who does it will have to go before a judge to decide their fate. The earth elementalis doesn’t comment but only watches as the proceedings take place, even thousands of years later it is continuing to judge if the insaan are worthy of the earth element. So far it has deemed them decently so…. for the most part. Those that are judged guilty may be made to do community service, exiled or even executed depending on the level of severity of the crime.

As Dhul is a kingdom, they have a Boqor/Boqorad [king/queen] it is these monarchs that ensure the running of the kingdom first and foremost. The current royal is often found to be visiting the earth elementalis to share their thoughts and work out their issues with them [ultimately alone, however, as the earth only listens and hums.] The monarchs are direct descendants of the very first insaan who asked the earth elementalis for help. It’s why they, more than any other Earth Elesaan, are judged by the earth elementalis.

What happens when Elesaan of difference elements reproduce?

If Elesaan of different elements reproduce, then they are playing with their child’s health and quality of life. While it’s true there is a chance the child could come out powerful: the ability to wield two elements and to even combine said elements to make something greater. This can come at a great cost that may disable the child.

Example: a Fire Elesaan and an Aquallia have a child. The child comes out with a severe eczema due to the conflicting elements that cause the child immense pain and difficulties functioning.

So as you can see, it’s why many Elesaan feel as though it’s best not to reproduce with someone outside their element. This, of course, excluding the Aquallia, who would rather encourage that.

That said, the level of disapproval between the Fire, Wind and Earth Elesaan vary:

Earth showing the most disapproval: It’s a severe criminal offense that can lead to exiling of the parents and removal of the child regardless of health status as they’ve shown blatant disregard for the child’s safety and well-being.

Then Fire: it’s a criminal offense so the parent will be fined and then monitored to ensure the safety and proper treatment of the child.

And lastly Wind: they disapprove especially when it goes bad but because they believe in allowing others to do as they like, they will, at most, suggest the parent to join another nomadic commune but this isn’t something the parent has to do. They will, however, help with the raising of the child.
